In this unit, we will examine the current situation of nuclear energy production. Our first news story is about a new worry with the ongoing cleanup at the Fukushima Nuclear Plant.

But first, some background information. Hard to believe that it’s been eight years since the Tōhoku Earthquake and tsunami. Do you remember what happened at Fukushima?

Let’s take a technical look at what actually happened in the reactors.

While so much has been rebuilt and recovered, it seems that eight years is still just the beginning of the story for the Fukushima Nuclear Plant meltdown that resulted.

Now fukusima nuclear power plant leaking radioactive contamination watre. radioactive contamination have risk of human organism. so leaking have to stop any methods. now radioactive watre leaking with normal underground water. therefore radioactive water drain befor mixing with undregroundwater.if so speed of tunk fill up ,and able to stalling. it is not essential breakthrough, but it can make few postponement time. so we have to think breakthrough in this postponement. it is responsibility of our japanese nation and choiced atomic energy.

However, operators of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant expect the plant’s tanks to be full three years later by 2022. So, how should we deal with radioactive water in the future? Two things can be considered: the first is to release polluting water into the Pacific Ocean, and the second is to convert it into steam or hydrogen and release it into the atmosphere.     Since the disaster, radioactive water has leaked from damaged reactors and mixed with groundwater and rainwater at the plant. The water is treated to remove harmful materials and stored in large tanks. But TEPCO has said the treatment process cannot remove all radioactive particles from the water.
    TEPCO says it plans to build more tanks to hold additional water.
    One proposal would involve the controlled release of water into the Pacific Ocean. But it is dangerous for environment,fishermen and all over the world.
    TEPCO spokesman Junichi Matsumoto told reporters the organization thinks contaminants produced from Fukushima work should stay within the plant area.

    I have the same opinion as Shin Ji’s comment on the measures that nuclear experts say are necessary. I am a Korean living close to Japan and I am very sensitive about this issue. If radioactive water flows into the sea, it will not only adversely affect industries in Japan’s Fukushima region, but also affect fisheries and other industries in South Korea and China, countries close to Japan, and spread public anxiety and concerns over physical damage caused by radiation to other countries. That’s why, just like Sinji comments, the measure of releasing contaminated water into the Pacific is very irresponsible.

    At a time when measures are urgently needed for radioactive water, rather than the irresponsible act of releasing the Pacific, I think proper countermeasures should be found in a way that does not destroy international interests through highly advanced technology, such as how to convert radioactive materials into hydrogen and release them into the atmosphere

    I think nuclear energy is limited necessary, but it should do away with in the near future.
    Thermal power generation is going to do away with in the world. Other power generation without nuclear energies can’t supply a want. So, now, nuclear energy is important.
    I agree with some of the comments. I think releasing the contaminated water into the ocean is ok, but only below standard value.

    There are 3 important details.
    First,the contaminated water will likely fill up all the plant’s available tanks by summer of 2022.
    Second,one proposal to deal with water would involve the controlled release of water in to the Pacific Ocean.Additional methods under consideration include ground injection or covering the radioactive water to steam or hydrogen and releasing it into the atmosphere.
    Third,TEPCO spokesman Junichi Matsumoto didn’t name a deadline for deciding what to do with the contaminated water. 125

  9. Videos and articles that came from overseas is insane. They reported much more detailed information than that is reported by Japanese media. It is also surprising that more people lives outside of Japan knows more about what happened in Fukushima, while I , for instance haven’t talked for a while about this topic, about the explosion of Fukushima dai-ichi nuclear plant or what is happening now in Fukushima. Probably the awareness of living in the country which is famous for the nuclear accident is fading among the Japanese. But as the article says, we are actually facing the serious problem:Running out of storage space for radioactive water. In the treatment process of using the water to remove harmful materials , it makes tons of tanks to store them. Because of running out of space for those tanks, it is very important to come up with new solutions as soon as possible. I care what people say if we just throw the water to the ocean or hide in the earth as so far a government group suggests. I agree with what Shinji pointed out on his comment that ‘this easy solution would cause strong opposing movement in Japan, and even foreign countries’. I predict that more non- Japanese would oppose because as I mentioned before, our concerns about Fukushima is fading day by day with soft impressions on our media’s expression.

  10. It’s about 8 years ago the earthquake and tsunami what shocked whole world in Japan.Let Fukushima got a huge booming in their Nuclear plants.Now we back to Fukushima to see the people who live in their , how they are.
    I think people always forget the past until someone to hint everyone is a big problem that people should not forget that.And also the people who live in Fukushima have something want to tell the world , how was the huge booming got worse, the government didn’t do something to get these people in a better explanation and compensate for these people who got injured in the huge booming.Before know this answer of the questions, I think they won’t to stop talking to the world.
    I don’t know the people in Fukushima still in pain of the 311, but now I think people including me should be pay more and more care of the whole world.

  11. The topic of the article is how we dispose of the contaminated water. Because the Fukushima nuclear plant will run out of water storage by 2022., and the water’s place is not in the plant. Plant officials say more than one million tons of water is currently being stored in approximately 1000 tanks. TEPCO says the tranks will more increase in the future. As to Fukushima reality, one proposal would involve the controlled release of water into the Pacific ocean. But fishermen and many people living in the area are strongly opposed to the proposal. Esseptially fishermen are making a living because of getting seafood in Fukushima. Due to storage tanks increasing, we have to decide additional land. For example, its water sends other places in Japan. Considering Shinji’s comment, of cause releasing the contaminated water into the ocean might be an easy solution. But how will the fishermen’s life in Fukushima be? Do we buy the fish in Fukushima included in the contaminated water? Absolutely not. If you’re not in Fukushima, we will seriously have to think about the problem. It is not important whether it is easy or not. Finally, I have some questions. So, how do we dispose of the contaminated water?, and also why do Japan restart the nuclear power plants in spite of the big accident that happened in 2011.

I think the topic is matching with the content.But it would be better if there was TEPCO’s preparations for running out radioactive water in Fukushima.Because it says about radioactive water and when we hear “water” we think about drinking or usual water.And I don’t think that this is much important.Because it has some bad effects for both people and plants.It is not good for plants’ cooling system.on the other hand it’s not not good for both fishing and agriculture industries.Putting them into the ocean is worse. I think he is lost in two different ways. Following heart or brain.

This article is about an issue of getting rid ocontaminated water from nuclear power plant.This is important problem because this includes radioactive material and this is killihg people easily.So goverment plans some countermeasure for this problem.One method is to release the ocontaminated water to the sea.According to the experts this is the most realistic plan.But fishman or people who live in the area oppse that proposal.Radioactive material break agriculture or fishery.That’s why local residents oppse.The second method is inject ground included or converte the radioactive water to steam or hydrogen and releasing it into the atmosphere.I think his coment is correct.Easily or jumping to conclusions can’t solve the issue perfectly and people living in the area angry.

  15. I soppose that the topic of this article is the future of the contaminated water and the area. There are some important issues with regard to this. First, it can’t be going to keep to leak the contaminated water permanently. And also there is no practical solutions except this. Second, we are unconcerned with this problem. I sympathize with Shinji’s comment. I think that even this solution is a superficial one. I fear that the contaminated water affect both the ground and the sea anyway.
